At the heart of the initiative is the creation of a limited-edition scarf conceived as a real “soft architecture”: an element capable of adapting itself to the body, creating volume and generating movement through textures, colours and three-dimensional stitches.
One of the most interesting aspects of the project is the use of stock yarns from previous works, thus making each piece unique and unrepeatable.
The project takes inspiration from wood and its grain, a recurring theme in Martino Gamper’s design research, reinterpreted through the textile language and technical skills of the knitwear factory. The different combinations of materials, colours and textures contribute to creating ever-changing objects, capable of enhancing both design creativity and the principle of reuse.
One of the most significant aspects of the collaboration concerns the continuous dialogue between creativity and production. The idea developed by the designers takes shape thanks to manufacturing experience, which has transformed complex aesthetic concepts into concrete processes, enhancing materials, techniques and textile experimentation.
This project demonstrates how Italian craftsmanship know-how still represents a fundamental element for developing innovative and high-quality products, capable of standing out in the panorama of contemporary design.
The initiative also highlights an approach to sustainability related not only to the choice of materials, but above all to the ability to give new life to existing resources. The recovery of processing leftovers thus becomes an integral part of the creative process.
Through collaborations with international designers and creatives, Maglificio Giordano’s confirms its interest in experimentation and contamination between different worlds, always keeping manufacturing quality and the culture of making as its core.
In a context in which creativity and production are often considered separate realities, collaborations such as the one with Martino Gamper show how much the dialogue between designers and companies can generate innovation, value and new ways of telling the story of the textile product.
The project thus represents a concrete example of how Made in Italy can evolve through the dialogue between traditional craftsmanship, aesthetic research, sustainability and contemporary vision.
Maglificio Giordano’s has been included among the companies taking part in the project “Journey in the Factories of Beauty”, an initiative promoted by the Literary Prize Giovanni Comisso, that explores some of the most significant experiences in the Italian manufacturing industry.
Maglificio Giordano’s has also proudly taken part in the second edition of the project “EcoStyle and Green Food. Every action counts!”, an educational path involving more than 600 second grade students of the region to learn more about the impact of plastics in fashion and food industries.
